Cell Site Analysis in 2017

We cannot believe 2017 is almost at an end. This has been the busiest year yet for the cell site analysis experts. We have once again expanded the team at Footprint Investigations and taken on a further cell site analyst and another cell site expert to cope with rising demand.

We have seen things change in 2017 in relation to police forces starting to outsource much of their cell site analysis work. Over the last few years many of the police forces have conducted all but the most serious cases in house using their own officers. We have seen a huge shift in this, especially towards the middle of the year and now conduct a fairly equal split of prosecution and defence cell site analysis reports.

One thing hasn’t changed this year, and that is the urgency at which we have had to complete cell site analysis reports. We have adapted well over the years to working to very urgent deadlines so much so that it seems like a luxury if we have longer than a couple of weeks to complete a report.

This year our cell site analysis experts have given evidence in courts all over the UK and have given evidence in a number of high profile criminal trials.

Cases dealt with by our experts in 2017 included may murder cases, some significant drugs conspiracy cases, kidnaps, robberies as well as insurance fraud, child protection and appeal cases.

Mobile phone spoofing has featured in many cases this year and this is likely to continue to grow along with cases involving WIFI data.

Our cell site experts have also spent time travelling the country conducting CPD training for both prosecution and defence lawyers. They have mainly been delivering our advanced training course ‘Cell Site Analysis in Action’ and have visited a number of CPS offices and barrister’s chambers.

Thank you to everyone who has instructed us in 2017 and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
