Happy 13th Birthday to The Cell Site Experts
Footprint Investigations have been undertaking cell site analysis for 13 years this week. We are still the largest dedicated, independent supplier of cell site analysis in the UK.
The team has expanded again in the past 12 months and we now have eight cell site experts, eight analysts, a few of whom specialise in call pattern analysis, two cell site managers, a software developer, a graphic designer, and a quality manager.
We now have a second office to house our graphics team, who prepare CCTV evidence for use in Jury bundles.
We have prepared reports for thousands of cases for both prosecution and defence cases. We spent many years working on cases which were always urgent, however this has changed in the past 12 months and we have seen many trials delayed until next year.
There has been an increase in court attendance in the past 12 months and several of our experts have spent a significant amount of time giving evidence at court.
Our experts have worked on some of the most high-profile cases of the last year resulting in some of the longest prison sentences for the defendants.
The biggest change has been the introduction of accreditation. Cell site analysis has previously been an unregulated area of digital forensics. Anyone could claim to be an expert, and they often did. The Forensic Science Regulator published a code of conduct and practice on 2nd October 2023, which all organisations need to adhere to. There is currently a deadline to complete ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation by October 2025.
