Cell Site of the Week 01/07/13

This is a light hearted look at an otherwise serious subject. During the course of our daily cell site analysis surveys we observe many types of cell site structures. Our dedicated senior cell site expert Greg Robinson, whilst conducting cell site analysis network surveys in the north-west of England recently observed this well disguised cell site, but can you see any signs of mobile phone cell site equipment?

This is an interesting design which seeks to provide the required levels of coverage in a busy residential area without creating an ‘eyesore’ for local residents. The cell site equipment is actually located behind a false “brick” facade at the top of the building. This top section will actually be built from GRP, allowing radio signals through almost unimpeded. The aerial view below shows the equipment. Please feel free to send any interesting cell site photos to cellsite@footprintinvestigations.com
