We have spoken many times about how cell site analysis is an unregulated area of digital forensics. Anyone can claim to be an expert, and they often do.

In our opinion, a previous role in planning and optimising cell sites or similar is crucial to being able to claim expert status in the field of cell site analysis and therefore give an opinion in court.

Footprint Investigations have been established for over a decade this year and our experts have never been busier. We have recently reached a stage where we are having to turn work away even when it is not what we would have deemed ‘urgent’ in the past. Our cell site experts are instructed on both prosecution and defence cases, however when the pandemic hit last year that changed. As the courts were not running then we mainly took on prosecution work. This is now having an impact as the courts are operational and a number of our experts can find themselves in court for days on end.

The team at Footprint Investigations would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As ever, we have not sent cards to any of our customers, instead we have made a donation to Acorns Children’s Hospice which is a local charity in Birmingham.

Our Office will close for the Christmas period on the 23^rd December at 5pm and will reopen on the 4^th January at 8am.
